BJWC Casino Royale Successfully Completes its Mission

The Barrington Junior Women’s Club (BJWC) brought the allure and drama of Casino Royale to 60010 with its Spring Fundraiser.

BJWC’s second annual night of Gaming and Giving offered an evening to remember. Glamour and generosity were the winning hands Saturday, March 4, 2017 with over 235 people, a near sellout crowd, in attendance.

Set against a backdrop of black, gold and cream, Event Co-Chairs Jolene Sroka and Kelly Apser transformed Biltmore Country Club in Barrington into the famous Monte Carlo casino complete with six gaming tables where guests enjoyed blackjack, roulette and craps.

“I am so thankful for our committee members who spent so many hours preparing to create a fun, entertaining and successful night,” commented Sroka.

When the lucky streaks went cold, people enjoyed the delicious food stations and drinks that Biltmore provided. Guests remembered that the object of the night’s mission was fundraising and found some incredible auction items ranging from valuable sports memorabilia and tickets to fun family experiences. Live Auction items ranged from Wrigley Rooftop Fun to a Family visit to Disney.

Over the years, BJWC’s charity initiatives have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local community grants and scholarships. The proceeds from Casino Royale will support BJWC’s annual scholarships awarded to Barrington High School seniors who demonstrate strong academic, volunteer, and leadership efforts.

A portion of the proceeds from Casino Royale will be used for celebrating the 20th Anniversary of BJWC’s Safety Town program, maintaining buildings, updating the security system, and developing a mobile Safety Town program for use at schools such as Sunny Hill Elementary School in Carpentersville, IL.

BJWC is grateful for the many sponsors who supported this event. A few of these sponsors include:

  • Brian Long of Long & Co Jewelers who donated a dazzling double diamond necklace for our signature jewelry raffle

  • Beaird Dermatology, who sponsored the Chicago based band David Rothstein Music.

The dance floor was packed throughout the night, and the energy in the room was evident!

For over eight decades, BJWC has been focused on charitable giving in the greater Barrington area. Monies raised throughout the year go toward well-established grant award programs for local charities that provide programs for children and teens, seniors, and families in Barrington and surrounding communities.

Co-Chair Kelly Asper was thrilled with the event, “I am overwhelmed and amazed by the amount of support we received from the community and our BJWC members.” BJWC President Mary Dale agreed, “Tonight was a terrific example of having fun while doing good and the power of bringing people committed to helping others together. I look forward to seeing the impact of the night as we start working on our annual scholarships, grants and Safety Town programs.”
